Modern, trendy and easy to wear, faux leather requires special care to maintain its suppleness and shine. Discover our tips for taking care of it every day and extending the lifespan of your favorite pieces.
Washing
To preserve the material, avoid machine washing, which risks cracking the surface. Opt instead for gentle hand cleaning: wipe the entire garment with a damp sponge or a soft cloth soaked in soapy water, then gently wipe dry with a clean cloth. In case of a stubborn stain, cleansing milk applied in circular motions will work wonders.
Steaming and De-creasing
Faux leather cannot handle direct heat from an iron. To remove creases safely, three options are available to you:
- The hairdryer: Set your appliance to a low temperature and hold it at least 20 cm away from the garment while gently smoothing the material with your hand.
- Shower steam: Hang your piece on a hanger in the bathroom during a hot shower. The water steam will naturally relax the fibers. Then let it air dry.
- Professional dry cleaning: In case of stubborn creases or doubt, entrust your piece to a professional who will know how to treat it without damaging it.
Expert Tip
Always let your pieces air dry, away from any direct heat source (radiator, sun) that could dry out and crack the coating. Store your garment on a wide hanger to prevent it from taking on unwanted creases in your wardrobe.
